about me

Hey, thanks for stopping by! I’m guessing you must be curious about who’s behind all that beauty rambling?

Well, I’m a 30 year old girl who’s currently living in Zürich, Switzerland. Before that, I spent a good part of my life in London and Brazil, and also briefly lived in Frankfurt, Germany.

I started this blog because I wanted to share my passion for skincare and beauty with fellow aficionados out there. I’ve become a huge fan of Korean cosmetics, but honestly, I just enjoy finding and trying new products from all over the world.  I figured writing a blog would be a great way to share my experiences with products, exchange opinions and connect with the awesome and knowledgeable online community out there.

K-Beauty can be overwhelming at first, specially if you’re new to it, so my biggest aim as a beauty blogger is to provide helpful and inspiring posts, regardless of whether you’re simply looking for information about a certain product or want to discover more about mindful skincare and what ingredients to look out for.

Now, if you’re ready, let’s start exploring the glorious world of snail creams, bee venom, essences, sheet masks, ampoules and fermented ingredients!

  1. Alex, why are you so into the Asian skincare products? When it comes to Korean skincare, I am not very into it because there has been a few times my skin reacts to the products despite it claiming to be natural. I tried out Innisfree Acai Berry mask before and my skin broke out! Weird. What is your favorite brand for Korean masks?

    1. That’s an interesting question! Growing up, I moved countries a lot and I had the opportunity to try out lots of different products from brands with different approaches to skin care. When I moved to the UK a couple of years ago, I suddenly started having skin issueI never had before like deep, painful cysts, dry skin and I even started getting fine lines. I tried using only natural products as well as investing in some expensive brands, but they just didn’t seem to help me much and where costing me a lot of money. That’s probably when I started getting interested in Asian and particularly Korean beauty products and I also began to be more aware about ingredients used in cosmetics. Until today I find that I get much better value when I shop Korean products compared to what’s available in the western market. The ingredients used tend to be more high quality (less useless ‘fillers’ and alcohol etc.), more innovative (take fermentation, snail mucus, ginseng, donkey milk, sheet masks…) and are overall less expensive. Of course, there are always hits and misses. I also had some high expectations in products that ended up being really mediocre or make me break out. It takes time to find what products and ingredients work well for your skin type as no product will work for everyone.

Here are some masks that I’ve been enjoying lately: Benton snail bee (great for soothing skin and helps with speeding up the healing process after breakouts), The Freeset Donkey Milk range and Tosowoong Propolis masks. Etude House also carries a very affordable, creamy sheet mask line called ‘I need you…!’ that come in various types and are great for everyday use. I’m working on some sheetmask reviews atm so hopefully there will soon be more about that on the blog 🙂
